Tragedy!

Yesterday, the unthinkable happened. After days of anticipation, days of whining, and days of promises regarding what else - the garbage truck, WE MISSED THE GARBAGE TRUCK. He was late. Normally, our garbage man is the picture of promptness. Not yesterday. 8:00 came and went. 9:00 came and went. 10:00, well, you get the picture. By 11:00 we had spent much of the morning out in the front yard, walking up and down the street, looking in our neighbors' garbage cans and shouting "GARBAGE DAY !!!!!" for all the world to hear. It was nap time. And as I was rocking Jack to sleep singing "Take Me Out to the Ballgame," I heard the dude coming up the street so I started singing louder so Jack wouldn't hear. Too late - naps are more important than the garbage day.

After his nap, Jack and I headed out to the park to mourn our loss and pretend we were driving the fire truck (the next best thing to garbage truck). He had a great time and I think forgot about garbage day for about the 90 minutes we were there.
