The age of obsession

There are two things in Jack's life right now that are more important than anything else in the whole wide world. They are: 1. Sugar Booger and 2. Garbage Day

First, our beloved dog, Sugar Booger. We don't know why, but she is constantly on his mind. "Sugar Booger" are the
first words out of his mouth in the morning and the last thing he says at night. I've heard him say her name in his sleep. And it's never just "Sugar." It's always "Sugar Booger." I think she is becoming his lovey. I've caught him trying to feed her his milk on more than one occasion. Once, he brought down his Goodnight Gorilla book, sat on Sugar's bed with her, and they read the book together. It was sweet - if not a little strange.

Second, the good for nothing garbage truck. People, this obsession is causing heartbreak at Casa Jack because the
garbage man only comes once a week and how in the world am I supposed to explain that to a one-year old? At first, running outside on garbage day to see the garbage truck was fun. It was also fun when Jack would point to the street and say "garbage day," plain as day. He can also tell you how the garbage cans go "up up up" and then "down down down." Now, when he starts in on his "garbage day" mantra, we run for the hills because unless it's GARBAGE DAY, we are screwed. We have to show him the street and explain that there are no trash cans (hence no garbage day). We explain that garbage day is on Friday (like he gets this concept). And depending on his mood, the fact that it is not garbage day may be cause for a complete meltdown or he might shrug it off and say, "Sugar Booger." Who knows - he's 15 months old.
