Two years ago today

Two years ago today, I woke up at 4:30 in the morning because, darn it, my belly was starting to cramp. Not having had contractions before, I tried to "walk it off." As in, 'round and 'round the living room I walked in a failed attempt to make the things go away.

Two years ago today, I woke Jax Dad up from a deep sleep around 6:30 in the morning to tell him, "I'm having contractions and they're not going away." For the first time in our married life, I do believe he jumped out of bed.

Two years ago today, we sped down the freeway towards the hospital around 7:30 in the morning - in the middle of rush hour traffic. Not having the ability to walk 'round and 'round the car, it was a painful ride.

Two years ago today, I waited patiently for my epidural because I was already 4 cm when I was admitted (yippee!).

Two years ago today, I spent most of the morning and afternoon calling my friends and family on my cell phone to say, "What's up? Me, well I'm in labor and it doesn't even hurt! How cool is that?," or something to that effect. Later, the karma police came by for a visit when my epidural ran out and the anesthesiologist was unavailable. That was a really fun hour of my life, let me tell you.

Two years ago today, after a much screaming, lots of encouragement from family, and a little help from a vacuum, you entered our life at 7:29 in the evening.

Two years ago today, you made our life complete.
